There are countless books written about the crucial role of human capital in success. I'm witnessing this firsthand one more time. We have a major milestone approaching - it's a big change in how we're doing things in our project. As with all new things, there are many risks. I've been in a state of worry these days, mentally listing all factors we need to consider.
Today, I caught myself thinking that, despite all my reflections, there will always be things I've missed. When creating something new, where one's person effort is not enough, there's always a need to rely on others. I started thinking about the number of small or big decisions each person makes during the day. What if some of the decisions made by the people you rely on are wrong? What if they missed certain considerations? Maybe they’re having a bad day, maybe there’s a knowledge gap, or perhaps they simply don’t care as much.
Can we ever be sure of all the decisions others make? Is it even possible to be fully aware of every choice that other people make throughout the day? Of course not. There will always be room for misalignment. Once again, I’m reminded of how interconnected we are and how significant human capital truly is.
To everyone around me: I realize how vulnerable I am when I stand alone and how important your role is in my life.
